Homesick? Not a chance...

"Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong, West Virgnia mountain mommma, take me home, country roads" Oh John, you had it right when you belted this out.

This past weekend, I ventured on home for a family wedding, and as I had my ipod blaring to this song, I thought of how excited I was to be going back to a place I called home. My family was flying in from everywhere, my friend from California flew in, and I knew that I would see the girls, how could I not be excited!?! Well, as the weekend wore on, I realized how much I missed Knoxville. I missed the all day event of peole getting ready for the game, the night out after the game, and the Sunday that followed that everyone is so tired...from the game! It's not really about football that I enjoy, but rather it's that the students here show that they absolutely love their school and this one event brings thousands of people together to celebrate it!

So as I was home, I made a litle shopping excursion with my friend Justin and he tells me that the spectrum class that we were in, invited him to come back to talk about his college experience and to give tips for the seniors to help them through the year. Okay so the first thing I thought, why didn't I get an invite! and the second, what would I tell them? We talked for a little bit about what we would both say, and we came to this:

You will have your ups and downs during college, and trust me, there are gonna be alot of downs, whether or not you admit them to yourself is your own deal. Maybe you'll be close to home where you can retreat back into that comfort level, or maybe you'l make new friends at college that will stick w/you 'till the end (I hope this is your case, b/c it's so rare to find the ones that are there when times are rough) or maybe...this one's the best, you realize that you're gonna have to deal with this one on your own. Whichever it may be, you'll be fine in the end, and you'll love college for making you pick one.
